A Rocky Point fishing boat and its crew have gone missing.
A search is underway for seven crew members of the Doña Rafaela fishing vessel, which was reportedlysupposed to return to port a little over a week ago. Sonora’s emergency response agencyand the Mexican Marines are involved in the efforts.
In an online message, Rocky Point’s Mayor Jorge Pivac announced the cancellation of a planned boat parade Sunday in solidarity with the families of the missing fishermen. He said that even private fishing boat owners had joined the search and called on others in a position to help to join the effort.
