Biden administration releases new guidelines for Native American consultation

President Joe Biden pledged to work closer with America’s tribes, and has taken a number of steps to fulfill that pledge. The president recently took another.

Scientists traditionally dismissed native knowledge of the natural world.

But in recent times, they have begun to recognize that Indigenous knowledge has a lot in common with western science, such as observation and recognition of patterns.

The Biden White House has released new federal guidelines for working with tribes and sharing expertise.

It has also announced new steps in working with tribes on managing federal lands.
