On Jan. 24, the state Court of Appeals will decide whether to expedite a bid by Kari Lake to overturn the results of the gubernatorial election she lost.
The panel of judges wants a response from Gov. Katie Hobbs by next Wednesday.
Just because a special action hearing date has been set does not mean the judges will allow Lake to argue to them directly on that day.
That would leave a standard appeal which could take months to play out.
Lake tried to go directly to Arizona’s Supreme Court, but it rejected her attempt.
Justice John Lopez said there was no good cause to transfer the matter directly to the high court.
Her arguments consist largely of the same claims that printer problems on election day restricted Republicans’ ability to cast votes.
