Winter storms drive up Arizona, U.S. gas prices

Rising demand for gas nationwide has pushed prices up by over 13 cents in the last week. AAA spokesperson Julian Paredes says that a decrease is likely in the near future.

“Severe weather, particularly in Texas and the Gulf Coast, have forced some refineries to shut down. And we’re still coming off that big travel weekend, too,” Paredes said. “But gas prices are still cheaper than this time last year, and they will drop relatively soon.”

In Arizona, the average price of gas is up about 11 cents.
