The legislative session begins Monday at the state Capitol, and a Republican-controlled Legislature will begin the process to send bills to a Democratic governor.
Top GOP lawmakers in both chambers have acknowledged they will send bills knowing they’ll get vetoed.
Incoming Senate President Warren Petersen, a Gilbert Republican, said he wants to work with the governor despite being on different sides of the political aisle.
And incoming GOP house speaker Ben Toma of Peoria agreed some bills that may get vetoed are still an important part of the process. Though neither leader mentioned specific issues they think would get blocked.
A spokesperson for Gov. Katie Hobbs acknowledged that process, but said she is ready to reject bills she disagrees with.
Peterson and Toma made the comments Friday at an event hosted by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
