President Joe Biden is in Mexico City this week for a major regional summit.
He touched down in Air Force One at the Felipe Angel International Airport Sunday evening, and was greeted by Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and other top-ranking officials. Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard later gave a rundown of what was planned for the two leaders’ formal talk scheduled for Monday afternoon.
At the top of the agenda is regional economic integration and the Plan Sonora, a suite of clean energy proposals centered in the northern Mexican state, which has abundant solar energy potential and substantial - though still largely unexploited - lithium reserves.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also arrived in Mexico City Monday for the North American Leaders Summit this week.
