Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne gave his State of Education speech Wednesday and touched on a number of issues — including school vouchers, English immersion and a campaign pledge to return to traditional discipline.
“When teachers leave the profession, they’re surveyed. And the No. 1 reason for leaving is not salaries, that’s No. 2. The No. 1 reason for leaving is a lack of support from administration, especially on discipline,” Horne said.
Horne has served in this office before and won re-election to the office in November.
To talk about what teachers are taking from his comments, The Show spoke with Arizona Education Association President Marisol Garcia.
