Having retaken a slim majority in the U.S. House, Republicans plan to initiate impeachment proceedings against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Arizona Congresswoman Debbie Lesko supports the move, alleging that Mayorkas has lied about border security.
"Not only has he failed in securing the border, but we believe he has intentionally done so," Lesko said.
Along with the move, House Republicans are planning on pushing immigration bills aimed at reverting to Trump-era policies.
Lesko plans to introduce legislation that would increase the standard for claiming asylum, requiring anyone with a criminal background to be deported despite their asylum claim.
