Gov. Hobbs outlines budget for Arizona water and natural resources objectives

Gov. Katie Hobbs released her budget last week, offering Arizonans a look at some of her priorities for the coming year, and the state’s natural resources were not overlooked.

The governor put $333 million for water augmentation at the top of her list.

She set aside funds to help the Department of Water Resources identify groundwater shortages and assist local governments to plan water usage.

A one-time expenditure will offer well drilling for indigenous and Latino communities.

The budget addresses climate change, with funding for electric vehicle charging stations and rail service.

It also provides $10 million for the State Parks Heritage Fund. Lawmakers have until June 30 to strike a deal with Hobbs.
