City of Tempe announces Josie Montenegro as interim police chief

The city of Tempe has announced an interim police chief to lead the police department. Interim Assistant Chief Josie Montenegro will transition into the role in mid-February.

She replaces Jeff Glover, who will become the new Arizona Department of Public Safety director under Gov. Katie Hobbs.

The search for a permanent police chief is ongoing. Community members will have an opportunity to talk to potential job candidates at forums in March.
