Phoenix is looking for feedback from residents as part of an ongoing community survey.
It asks people to grade housing availability, wages, public safety, transportation and arts and culture. A few questions focus on homelessness, asking respondents where the city should devote resources.
The survey is in English and Spanish and available on the city’s website, social media platforms and digital ads. The survey collects ZIP codes and uses online advertising to reach a representative sample.
The company handling the survey, Zencity, says only responses will be shared with Phoenix, not personally-identifying information. The city will get results every three months.
Zencity says more than 300 local governments use similar surveys to gather feedback on various issues.
Scottsdale has been using it since 2018 to understand public conversations around city issues, projects and programs. In an email, a city spokesperson told KJZZ News that the social media monitoring tool “helped us be aware of questions around our bond proposals so that our information did a better job of answering/addressing those questions. That’s one example of how we have used it, overall it’s a persistent point of information for us to see what people are talking about.”
