A popular trail in northern Arizona known for its views of Sedona’s red rocks is going to be closed down until the spring.
The upper portion of Cathedral Rock Trail will be closed starting Wednesday and won’t reopen until about the end of March.
The U.S. Forest Service announced the closure recently, saying crews need to reconstruct rock walls and install steps to improve safety.
The agency says it needs to close the trail portion because it can’t safely reroute hikers around the area during construction.
The lower portion of the trail, about a one-fifth of a mile hike, will remain open.
