Arizona Senate Committee votes to use $360 million to widen I-10

The federal government denied a grant to widen the Interstate 10 from Casa Grande to Chandler this year.

On Monday, the Arizona Senate Transportation Committee voted unanimously to draw the $360 million it would take to do it from Arizona’s budget.

Casa Grande Mayor Craig McFarland spoke in favor of the bill.

“This is an important, important last piece of roadway that needs to be widened in the state,” McFarland said. “It’s really a safety issue and a commerce issue.”

Now that it has passed through the committee, the bill will move to a vote in the full Senate.
