But there are other ways to experience the park.

Commercial outfitters account for many of those trips, but the National Park Service issues a limited number of permits for non-commercial rafts.
The agency is now accepting applications for the 2024 lottery and will do so until Feb. 21.
The trips are self guided and technical whitewater experience is mandatory.
