Next week, the Phoenix Convention Center will transform into the Super Bowl media center — serving as the epicenter for the carnival of coverage leading up to the big game. Before Super Bowl LVII comes to Glendale on Feb. 12, intense media coverage from outlets throughout the globe will be pouring in within the next week.
Jerry Harper, deputy director of the convention center, says plans for the media center started two years ago, and that it will have a dedicated social media command center.
“One of the things that we have here that is new compared to last time, is we have some of our own dedicated staff that will be located in the social media command center to communicate any information that would be important for our guests to know,” he said.
Harper said other improvements include increased Wi-Fi bandwidth and an upgraded distributed antenna system for better cellular connectivity. The convention center will have capacity for 6,000 media members.
