Arizona restaurants get ready for an influx of sports fans

As pro golf and football fans begin arriving for the Phoenix Open and Super Bowl, restaurants in the Valley will experience a noticeable uptick of patrons.

Steve Chucri is the president and CEO of the Arizona Restaurant Association and is reminding restaurateurs to brush up on their service skills and depth of menu items.

"You first and foremost have to make sure you’re staffed up from a labor side, and then secondly, that you are ordering more than you would typically order when it comes to menu ingredients. The last thing you want to do is have someone want to try something and you’re out of it by 6 o’clock," he said.

Chucri also says the presence of the big game could potentially be a boost for restaurants recovering from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
