Do cows shoulder too much of the blame for climate change and other problems?

One of the five Cs of the state’s economy that Arizona school-children learn about is cattle.

According to the Arizona Beef Council, there are more than 15,000 farms and ranches in the state, including cattle who are raised in all 15 counties. But cows have their critics — including those worried about overgrazing, emissions and the health effects of beef consumption.

Roger Morgan-Grenville wanted to take a closer look at these criticisms.

Morgan-Grenville writes books on conservation and biodiversity. His latest is called "Taking Stock: A Journey Among Cows."

He spoke with The Show about why he things cows get blamed for things that aren’t necessarily their fault.
