Arizona Head Start enrollment hasn't returned to pre-pandemic levels

Fewer than a quarter of Arizona children living in poverty are enrolled in Head Start programs.

That’s according to data from the National Institute for Early Education Research at the Rutgers University Graduate School of Education. The numbers also show disparities based on race and ethnicity.

The Show talked more about this with Kylie Barber, Early Childhood Policy Director with Children’s Action Alliance, and began by asking if the numbers in this report match what she’s seeing on the ground here in Arizona.
