Scottsdale Community College to hold electric vehicle career expo

As the number of electric vehicle manufacturers and suppliers in Arizona grows, so does the need for workers.

The electric vehicle — or EV — industry offers a variety of jobs, like software developers, designers and engineers, marketing experts and sales representatives, and technical positions in manufacturing and maintenance.

Scottsdale Community College will host an event with EV experts sharing career and business opportunities. After a panel discussion, attendees can check out nearly a dozen electric vehicles, including Tesla, Chevy, Kia and Ford models, along with a 1972 El Camino that’s been converted to electric.

Registration for the Feb. 16 event can be found at Scottsdale Community College's website

Panelists

  • Peter Gruber, CEO of Gruber Motors
  • Kathy Knoop, manager of vehicle grid integration solutions for General Motors
  • John Martinson, president of the Scottsdale Electric Vehicle Association
  • Tudor Melville, CEO of Suntech Circuits
  • Baily Soto, curriculum specialist at Legacy EV

As part of a national electric vehicle infrastructure program, Arizona will receive more than $76.5 million over the next five years to add charging stations around the state.
