Families suing Snapchat after kids died from fentanyl overdoses. Why the suit is a longshot

More than 50 families are suing the social media platform Snapchat. They’ve all had children die from fentanyl overdoses and their kids all got the drug via Snapchat.

But Gregg Leslie says the lawsuit is a longshot — thanks to a 1996 law that generally says online platforms cannot be held liable for what third-parties say on their platforms.

Gregg Leslie is the executive director of the First Amendment Clinic at Arizona State University's Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. The Show talked with him about what he makes of the lawsuit against Snapchat.
