Legislature debates transportation taxes, chickens and short-term rentals as deadline looms

Committee agendas are packed this week at the state Capitol as lawmakers face a deadline to hear bills in committees in the chamber in which they were introduced.

That means House bills that haven’t been heard in a House committee by the end of this week are in trouble, and the same goes for Senate bills in Senate committees.

One new measure would allow Maricopa County to ask voters to re-up a sales tax for transportation. Then-Gov. Doug Ducey vetoed a bill to do that last year, but this year’s version is a little different.

To talk about what to expect at 1700 West Washington in the days to come, Howard Fischer of Capitol Media Services joined The Show.
