Meet the mathematician who invented game dice with 120 sides

Math and art are not often used together in the same sentence, especially when the word fun is then added on.

But Robert Fathauer combines those three things to make art that is based on mathematics that can be used in schools, for game play or just to look at.

Fathauer has a research science background and has been making products combining math and art for about three decades. Over the last several years, though, he’s been focused on polyhedral dice — unusual geometric dice with up to 120 sides.

He joined The Show to talk about what interested him in making this kind of dice.
