70,000 Black Americans moved to the Valley between 2010 and 2020, but few found a better life

The Great Migration took place during much of the early and mid 20th century and marked one of the largest movements of people in our country’s history as Black Americans moved out the South and into the rest of the country.

Adam Mahoney says Black America is experiencing another great migration today.

Mahoney covers climate and the environment for Capital B and is out with a new story about the large number of Black people who have moved to Phoenix over the last decade — and how few of them are finding a better life here.

The Show spoke with him about why.
