What proposed changes to the census form could mean for the Latino community

The Biden Administration is proposing changes to the census form it says would allow for more detailed data about respondents’ racial and ethnic backgrounds.

For example, the proposal would combine the question about Hispanic/Latino ethnicity with one about race, and would include boxes where respondents could note what country they’re from.

For more about these proposed changes and what they could mean, The Show spoke to Lisa Magaña — associate dean of diversity, equity and inclusion in college at ASU and provost fellow for Hispanic serving institution initiatives there.
