Flagstaff has so far had the second snowiest season in more than a century. The National Weather Service estimates Flagstaff received 140 inches of snow through March 1.
The only time it’s snowed more than that by that date was the 1948-49 snow season.
This latest storm has been pushing snow and rain across Arizona from California to New Mexico. Interstate 17 northbound just reopened late this morning.
About 75 miles of I-40 eastbound is closed as well as 180 north of Snowbowl, the windy 89A from Flagstaff to Sedona, and several others. Officials estimate snow is falling a half inch to an inch an hour.
