Arizona Department of Forestry warns that invasive weeds can fuel wildfires

The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management says that invasive weeds can be major drivers of wildfires.

Tiffany Davila, a spokeswoman for the agency, said that giant reed and stinknet are extremely flammable.

"The stinknet is what we really see around the central portion of the state," Davila said. "It grows very quickly, and then it also dries out very quickly, and just serves as fuel for a wildfire."

She recommends that homeowners clear their property of weeds and other fuel before summer temperatures arrive.
