This new Chandler store will have an indoor Ferris wheel

Scheels All Sports, a North Dakota-based sporting goods retailer, is opening a 220,000-square-foot store — which will include an indoor Ferris wheel — at Chandler Fashion Center in September.

The location, which will be at the site of the old Nordstrom store, is the first Scheels in Arizona.

"Scheels is based out of the Midwest, and after studying the market for years, we noticed there are a lot of people relocating to the Valley creating an opportunity for SCHEELS to come to this market that already has an existing customer base," said said Lyndsay Bianchi, head of marketing for Chandler Scheels. "We will have a 45-foot Ferris wheel in the middle of our store, as well as many other attractions for all ages and hobbies."

The location will also include an 16,000-gallon aquarium, mountain range, a candy shop and an arcade, according to its website.

The employee-owned retailer first announced its plans to expand to Chandler in 2021. The company has nearly 30 stories nationwide.

Scheels is holding a career expo from March 31-April 1 to fill about 400 open positions.
