As Arizona faces challenges related to water shortages, the need to educate residents about conserving water grows more significant. In April, the Arizona Department of Water Resources intends to hold its first-ever Water Awareness Festival to educate and engage with the public about water conservation.
Némesis Ortiz-Declet is the department's drought program coordinator.
“I think something that will stand out is just having these water providers altogether, providing an opportunity for residents to talk directly to them and to ask those questions that you have,” she said.
According to Ortiz-Declet, the goal is to showcase the department’s partners and make sure residents have access to their information and resources. Participants for the festival include SRP, the City of Phoenix and ASU. The festival is scheduled to take place at the Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza.
