Josie Montenegro is Tempe’s interim police chief and has worked decades for the department.

Tom Van Dorn is a retired Phoenix police commander and former deputy county attorney.

Two other out-of-state finalists are from Oregon and Alaska.

Tom Worthy is chief of The Dalles Police Department.

Kenneth McCoy retired last year as chief of the Anchorage Police Department.

Matthew Casey has won Edward R. Murrow awards for hard news and sports reporting since he joined KJZZ as a senior field correspondent in 2015.
