Tempe has scheduled an online forum for 6 p.m. Wednesday with four candidates vying to replace the former police chief, who Gov. Katie Hobbs chose to lead the Department of Public Safety.
Josie Montenegro is Tempe’s interim police chief and has worked decades for the department.
Tom Van Dorn is a retired Phoenix police commander and former deputy county attorney.
Two other out-of-state finalists are from Oregon and Alaska.
Tom Worthy is chief of The Dalles Police Department.
Kenneth McCoy retired last year as chief of the Anchorage Police Department.
