Coconino County’s attorney won’t seek reelection when his term ends next year.
Coconino County Attorney Bill Ring oversees prosecutions in a jurisdiction bigger than many U.S. states at nearly 20,000 square miles and with huge tourism draws.
Ring told the Arizona Daily Sun that many of local prosecutions don’t actually involve county residents.
In a goodbye announcement, Ring warned that the next county attorney will need to address court infrastructure, which he called undersized.
Ring, a Democrat, said he hasn’t ruled out a run for Congress.
