Tempe City Council voted to cancel a duplicate election in August on its proposed Entertainment District.
The original May 16 date is still moving forward.
Two separate groups gathered enough signatures to push a vote, resulting in duplicate elections. The city says cutting the second one will save $315,000.
Residents will need to register to vote by April 17 in order to participate in the May election.
Three proposals will go to voters in May: a Zoning Map Amendment and a Planned Area Development Overlay, a General Plan Amendment; and the Development and Disposition Agreement.
The affiliate for the Meruelo Group and Arizona Coyotes, Bluebird Development, gathered enough signatures in December to put the issues on a ballot.
A separate group had also gathered enough signatures on the same issues, creating the duplicate election.
Bluebird Development is reportedly contractually obligated to pay Tempe for the May election.
