Arizona joins lawsuit calling for restrictions on pesticide use to protect bees

Conservationists have battled for years with the Environmental Protection Agency over lax regulation of a pesticide that is highly toxic to bees.

A number of agricultural states have sued the EPA over the use of sulfoxaflor, which is toxic to bees and other pollinators.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes recently joined those states in calling for nationwide restrictions on its use.

During the Trump administration, the EPA approved the use of sulfoxaflor, which prompted legal challenges.

Critics say that at the very least, more research should be done on its potential impacts on humans and the environment.
