How Maricopa County beefed up early voter signature verification before the 2022 election

Kari Lake has one shot left in her attempt to overturn the 2022 election, and it hinges on claims of forged signatures on mail-in ballots.

A Maricopa County Superior Court judge may soon allow the former Republican gubernatorial candidate to try to prove that claim in court: That bad actors forged tens of thousands of signatures on mail-in ballot envelopes, and the county failed to follow state law when approving them.

But Maricopa County election officials knew that process would be highly scrutinized, and they bolstered it leading up to Election Day.

Jen Fiefield reported the story for Votebeat, and she joined The Show to talk about it.
