WNBA to expand use of charter flights in the upcoming season

The WNBA will expand the use of charter flights in the upcoming season.

The league will allow charter flights in playoffs and back-to-back regular season games.

The WNBA will pick up the tab. Most will be short trips such as between Phoenix, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, but the longest one will be from Washington to Atlanta.

Association commissioner Cathy Englebert says the league has had discussions with the Phoenix Mercury and Brittney Griner about her travel arrangements.

Englebert says they are working on a plan, but that they want it to remain confidential. Griner reportedly wants to travel with the team sometimes.
