Chandler city officials have approved amendments to the city’s short-term rental ordinance. The vote follows Gov. Doug Ducey’s legislation last year authorizing cities to issue licenses for these rentals.
Parking violations, liquor violations and noise complaints are common concerns.
At a past meeting, Ryan Peters, strategic initiatives director for the city, addressed the rentals’ presence.
"In 2022, there were about 299 short-term rentals registered with the city. In other words, we knew their contact information that they’re supposed to provide to the city and there’s 131 calls for service at 46 identified rental properties," he said.
Among the provisions, short-term landlords must notify neighbors about the rentals and cities can suspend licenses for violations.
The changes are expected to take effect in August.
