Gov. Katie Hobbs has vetoed four more bills. In a single explanation letter, she mostly talked about why she rejected the two gun-related measures.
One would have allowed parents, with state-issued permits and with students at the school, to carry a concealed weapon onto the school’s property.
The other gun-related bill would have required "age-appropriate'' training in firearms safety for sixth to 12th grade — without direct instruction on how to operate weapons.
Hobbs says she’s “focused on finding concrete solutions to gun violence prevention that protect Arizona families,” including secure gun storage.
The other two vetoed measures were about election law and defining crime jurisdiction. Hobbs called them unnecessary and possibly confusing.
The governor has now vetoed 52 bills, just shy of the record set in 2005.
