Glendale to open new landfill cell

Top Glendale officials plan to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning to open a newly built landfill cell expected to last for up to 50 years.

A half-century is roughly how long it’s taken to fill the current cell with trash from West Valley cities.

Glendale recently expanded its residential recycling program via partnership with a private company to include glass and certain plastics.
