Arizona unemployment dropped in March

Arizona’s unemployment rate dropped again last month.

It fell two-tenths of a percent to 3.5% from February into March. Arizona’s rate now matches the rest of the country’s.

Doug Walls with the Arizona Department of Economic Opportunity says some sectors fared better than others.

"The largest job gains recorded within manufacturing and construction. You can see the largest job losses recorded within private education and health services and professional and business services," he said.

Walls says all metro areas in the state gained jobs, but the Phoenix area led the pack. Year over year, the state’s labor force increased by more than 700,000 people.
