NDN Girls Book Club aims to help young Native American writers thrive

A new group aimed at helping Native American writers is set to officially launch this weekend. The NDN Girls Book Club will feature workshops for young writers, as well as author talks. It will also work with tribal libraries and Indigenous booksellers to get more books by Native authors and featuring Native stories to more readers.

The club is the brainchild of poet Kinsale Drake and will launch tomorrow at Palabras Bookstore in Phoenix.

The Show spoke with Drake about the NDN Girls Book Club, as well as the current state of publishing and the literary world within Native communities.
