Arizona’s share of Colorado River water has been cut amid the record drought gripping the Southwest. That has put a greater emphasis — and more scrutiny — on other sources.
A poll released Monday shows Arizonans are highly concerned about the state’s groundwater supply.
85% of those surveyed say the state needs to do more to manage groundwater. And 92% say the state should prioritize investments in conservation to keep more water in the Colorado River.
The poll, released by the Walton Family Foundation, surveyed 813 registered voters in Arizona this month.
Moira McDonald with the Foundation says the report shows the state’s citizens are unified in beliefs to protect groundwater.
The poll also included a range of other questions, including voter beliefs on groundwater management and its role on the economy.
