It’s been several months now since about 1,000 residents of the Rio Verde Foothills stopped getting water from the city of Scottsdale. The unincorporated community sits just outside city limits and was left with few options when Scottsdale officials cut off the taps in January.
Now, a private utility company Epcor has made its case to be the community’s water supplier. Hearings at the Arizona Corporation Commission wrapped up last week regarding the issue.
The Epcor plan would involve using river water, instead of the already sparse groundwater that others rely on. The Show spoke with Arizona Republic reporter, Sasha Hupka, on the biggest takeaways from the hearing.
