Arizona Humane Society waives adoption fees though May 15

The Arizona Humane Society is waiving adoption fees for all pets older than 6 months due to “critical capacity issues” at the shelter, the agency said Friday.

There are currently more than 1,100 animals being cared for at the no-kill shelter. According to the Humane Society, the average cost to care for a pet it takes in is $1,300, and more than 75 animals are rescued each day.

The Bissell Pet Foundation is sponsoring the event through May 15.

The Humane Society says more than 170 animals are currently waiting for adoption at the Nina Mason Pulliam South Mountain Campus and at PetSmart in Scottsdale at Miller and Camelback roads.
