Triple-digit weather has arrived in Phoenix. The Valley hit 102 on Sunday, which tied a record high set in 1943, according to the National Weather Service.
While some residents got used to those cooler temperatures, hot weather means taking precautions to avoid overheating, especially if you’re still hitting the trails.
“We do remind everyone to be mindful of the heat that is out there and the importance of drinking plenty of water, wearing appropriate hiking clothes, boots, hats, etc., and making sure that people understand their own personal limits," said Phoenix Fire Captain Scott Douglas.
Hikers can experience dehydration, sunburns and heatstroke. Douglas says they administered first aid to a hiker who experienced the effects of heat on Saturday.
