Brittney Griner attends White House Correspondents' Association Dinner

Phoenix Mercury basketball star Brittney Griner made an appearance at Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.

Her presence at the event comes shortly after holding a recent preseason press conference in Phoenix.

Speaking on C-SPAN, President Joe Biden acknowledged Griner during some of his remarks.

“This time last year, we were praying for you Brittney, hoping you know how hard all of us were fighting for your release. It’s great to have you home," she said.

Griner was accompanied by her wife, Cherelle, at the dinner.

The Mercury will play its first preseason game on the road against the Seattle Storm on May 9.
