Arizona state Sen. Wendy Rogers, one of the most conservative Republican lawmakers at the Capitol, went to court in Flagstaff to get a restraining order taken out against an Arizona Capitol Times reporter, Camryn Sanchez.
Rogers decided to get the order after Sanchez knocked on the doors of both the senator's Tempe and Chandler homes while reporting a story about where Rogers, who represents the Flagstaff area, actually lives.
Now, the newspaper plans to challenge the restraining order in court. The judge will hear arguments in the case in May.
The Show spoke with Elvia Díaz, the editorial page editor of the Arizona Republic, on the issue, and she said that the case is all an attack on the First Amendment and the legitimate role of the press.
