Former Arizona restaurant owners owe $3 million in tax evasion case

A judge has ordered the former owners of Teakwoods Tavern and Grill in Gilbert and Chandler to pay back more than $3 million and serve jail and prison time for tax evasion.

The pair were indicted in 2021 for failing to pay transaction privilege taxes, withholding income taxes, along with the failure to file corresponding returns.

Separately, the state revenue department says business owners who fall behind in filing taxes may contact its  Voluntary Disclosure and Compliance team.
