Vaccines are still important even as COVID-19 emergency ends, Arizona health expert says

As many states have seriously ramped down their reporting of coronavirus cases, the World Health Organization says COVID-19 is no longer a global health emergency.

Will Humble, executive director of the Arizona Public Health Association, said that doesn’t mean vaccines to combat the disease are on the way out, though.

“There’s general consensus that we’ll end up having a booster shot every year in the fall and over time, those boosters may change a tiny bit," Humble said.

Humble also said the announcement by the W-O precedes a similar one coming this Thursday that the declaration of the COVID emergency is over in the Untied States.
