Listening back to some Arizona voices from the pandemic

Thursday marked the end of the federal COVID-19 emergency.

It’s been more than three years since the virus gripped the world in fear, economic crisis, uncertainty and divisiveness. Over the course of the pandemic, The Show reached into every corner of Arizona to hear voices articulating the concerns for themselves, their loved ones and their communities as health officials struggled to understand the breadth of the illness.

The Show talked to people seeking medical guidance to navigate the crisis and also Arizonans antagonized and indignant about any restrictions that would alter their routine.

The Show has collected some of those voices as we look back at the pandemic that took the lives of 33,451 Arizonans and more than a million Americans.
