New energy efficient LED bulbs will soon light the Mill Avenue Bridges in Tempe.
Replacement efforts are underway starting this week to change the old bulbs on the bridges' signature draped lighting.
The work is part of Refresh Tempe, a program that adds and manages city amenities and infrastructure. The city is planning more new lights, art, streetscapes and more.
Light replacement operations will last until June, and residents should expect lane restrictions during working hours.
The original bridge over the Salt River was built in 1931 and dedicated in 1933.
