The U.S. has a loneliness problem. Here's how to make friends — even as an adult

Earlier this month, the U.S. surgeon general released an advisory about a public health crisis. And this time it’s not COVID-19 — it’s about loneliness

Recent research shows about half of adults in the United States say they experience loneliness daily, and it can have serious health consequences — from increased risk of stroke and heart disease to depression and dementia.

But Anna Goldfarb says you can build the friendships you need to help combat loneliness and isolation — even as an adult. Goldfarb is a friendship journalist and the author of the forthcoming book, "Modern Friendship: How To Nurture Our Most Valued Connections."

The Show talked with Goldfarb why she thinks we find ourselves facing a crisis of loneliness.
